3M is a manufacturer and nano ceramic is a film technology. They can overlap. Crystalline, Ceramic IR and other named ranges need their own product-specific quotations.

Use these differences to build a shortlist. We confirm the available local product and shade when quoting; a manufacturer’s catalogue does not establish workshop stock.

01

Crystalline

Vehicle-specific quote

Heat control with lighter options

Compare this range if you want to retain a lighter appearance while assessing solar performance. Confirm whether the quote identifies the older CR range or CR BLK; the names and technical sheets must match.

02

Ceramic IR

Vehicle-specific quote

A named nano-ceramic option

3M Ceramic IR uses non-metallic nano-ceramic technology. It is a specific product range, so a quote for generic “ceramic tint” is not equivalent. Ask for the selected IR variant and compare it at a similar visible-light transmission.

03

Color Stable

Vehicle-specific quote

Compare the finish and the generation

A charcoal appearance is only the starting point. Legacy CS and newer CS IR designations need separate checks. 3M’s current UAE Color Stable page describes upgraded ceramic-particle technology; do not apply an older CS chart to every product.

FX Standard

Vehicle-specific quote

A starting point for shade and value

FX-ST is 3M’s non-metallised dyed-film range. Compare it when appearance, glare and budget are your starting points, then check the selected shade’s solar data. FX Standard, FX Premium and FX High Performance are different names.

Make the comparison useful

Choose around the way
you use your car

You do not need to arrive knowing a product code. Start with what you want to improve and ask us to compare two suitable options.

Heat

You want more comfort without a very dark look

Ask about suitable lighter Crystalline and Ceramic IR variants. Compare total solar energy rejection at similar visible-light transmission, rather than assuming darkness measures heat control.

Compare heat-control options ↗
Visibility

You drive after dark or use basement parking

Discuss your view through side glass and mirrors before choosing a shade. Look through samples from inside the stationary car; photos and exterior reflections cannot reproduce your driving view.

Discuss shade and visibility ↗
Budget

You want to understand the price difference

Ask what changes between the two named films at the same window coverage. Compare the installed total and warranty terms, not an unexplained “basic”, “premium” or “lifetime” label.

Compare within my budget ↗
Read the specification correctly

Compare the film
at the shade you want

A range headline is not the specification for every shade. Ask for the exact product row, the test glass and the document version behind the quotation.

Factory-coloured rear glass, clear side windows and previously fitted film are different starting points. The finished appearance and light transmission depend on the complete glazing, not simply the number printed on a sample.

A heat lamp can help demonstrate a sensation, but it should not replace the product sheet or be treated as a full simulation of a Dubai summer journey.

Ask for a like-for-like comparison ↗
VLT

How much visible light passes

Higher VLT means more visible light passes through the tested glass-and-film combination. It does not describe heat rejection.

TSER

Total solar energy rejected

Use this measure when comparing solar performance, with the same test basis and similar shade where possible.

IR

Check which infrared measure is used

IRR and IRER cover different measurement scopes. Neither should be relabelled as total heat rejection.

UV

A separate protection measure

UV rejection is distinct from darkness and solar heat performance. Confirm the value for the selected film.

Know what will be fitted

How to check the supplied
3M film and paperwork

Ask for a product you can identify and a purchase you can document. A logo in an advert or on a sample is not enough to establish the supplied film or installer status.

Keep the product details together

Before approving the job, ask to see the roll’s product identification and how it corresponds to your quote. Keep the invoice and warranty details so any later enquiry refers to the film actually fitted. Check whether cover transfers if you sell the vehicle and whether removal and refitting labour are included.

If something differs between the sample, roll label and written quote, resolve it before installation. Do not accept a different range on the basis that it is “also 3M” without reviewing its specification and price.

Request product and warranty evidence ↗
  1. Match the roll to the quote

Check the full range, shade and product reference. Record available batch or roll identification with the installation details.

  2. Match the specification to the product

Use the technical sheet for that generation and region. Older charts should not silently stand in for a newer CS IR or CR BLK product.

  3. Get an itemised invoice

Keep the vehicle, fitting date, treated windows, product and amount paid together. A line reading only “car tint” gives you little to refer back to.

  4. Confirm the warranty route

Ask who handles claims, whether registration is required and what evidence is needed. Manufacturer cover and workshop workmanship cover may have different terms.

VLT means visible light transmission and TSER means total solar energy rejected. Auto 75 starts at 73% VLT and clear reference glass at 89% VLT. These are typical values for selected reference combinations. Different glass, document versions and test procedures prevent treating this as a single ranked heat-control test. No row establishes road-use approval or the measured result on your car.

Source documents are also linked on the product pages. Manufacturer references include the CR BLK sheet, Ceramic IR bulletin, CS 20 sheet, CS 35 sheet, CS IR sheet, FX-ST bulletin.

Quoted FX ST 30 or a darker film?

The cited FX-ST bulletin lists 5, 20, 35 and 50, not FX ST 30. Check the FX ST 30 name before using another film’s figures. For darker options, explore Color Stable 5, FX ST 5 or the 3M dark-film comparison. Suitability depends on your vehicle and the windows being treated.

  1. Agree the film and coverage

Confirm the chosen range and shade, the windows included, suitability and any separate roof or front-glass assessment.

  2. Assess and prepare

Record existing defects, check the old film and define the cleaning or removal required. Agree additional work before it begins.

  3. Fit and review the finish

Inspect the window edges and view through the glass at handover. Ask about any areas that need explanation while the film dries.

  4. Leave with the documents

Take the invoice, warranty terms and written window-use and cleaning instructions. Confirm who to contact if you notice a concern.

Support after installation

Understand your 3M tint
warranty before booking

The duration is only one part of the cover. The provider, eligible product, fitting requirements and claim process should be clear before you pay.

Cover for the film you choose

Your quotation should identify the film and the applicable UAE warranty terms. Manufacturer film cover and workshop workmanship cover are separate, so check the provider and duration for each.

For your selected installation, request the applicable local warranty document. Check who provides the cover and whether it includes film defects, workmanship, removal and refitting labour. Keep exclusions and registration requirements with the invoice.

Do not assume that overseas “lifetime” wording applies to a UAE purchase. Likewise, the shelf life of an unused roll describes storage, not the warranty for film on your car.

questions answered

How much does 3M window tinting cost in Dubai?

Our featured 3M package is advertised at AED 1,550. Confirm the selected series, vehicle, windows, removal, VAT treatment and warranty. Other combinations are priced for the agreed job rather than an unsupported generic price band.

Which 3M film is best for my car?

Start with your preferred view, heat-control priorities, existing glass and budget. Ask to compare two named films at similar light transmission. There is no single shade or range that is the best choice for every vehicle and driver.

Are all the ranges shown here in stock?

Availability of the exact range, generation, shade and roll format is confirmed when quoting. The comparison describes product options; it is not a live inventory or a promise that every shade can be fitted immediately.

How can I check that the supplied film is genuine 3M?

Ask for product identification that matches the quote, the applicable technical sheet, an itemised invoice and warranty documentation. Resolve inconsistent names before fitting. If manufacturer authorisation is important, request current supporting evidence and verify it with 3M.

Is ceramic tint the same as 3M Ceramic IR?

No. Ceramic describes a technology used by different manufacturers and ranges. Ceramic IR is a specific 3M range. The quotation should identify the product, not just the word ceramic.

Does a 3M brand name make the film legal for every window?

No. The intended window, vehicle category and finished glazing need assessment. A shade number or brand name is not road-use approval. Use the tint rules guide for context and confirm applicable requirements before selecting coverage.

Can you tint a car that already has factory privacy glass?

Ask for an assessment of the existing glass first. Factory-coloured glass is different from an applied film. Adding film changes the finished combination, so shade and coverage should be chosen for that starting point.
