Start with the panels

What would you like wrapped?

Change the whole exterior or give selected panels a contrasting finish. Agree the visible result and the covered surfaces before comparing prices.

Full exterior

A complete change of colour

AED 7,000–20,000

Guide estimate for a full exterior vinyl-wrap project. Vehicle size, curves, film choice and access to edges account for the broad range.

  • List bumpers, bonnet, wings, doors, rear quarters and boot or tailgate.
  • Confirm the roof, mirror caps, handles and painted sills.
  • Agree seams, edge returns and any trim removal.

Door shuts and hidden inner surfaces are not automatically included. The original colour can remain visible when a door opens.

Selected panels

A more focused change

AED 2,000–5,000

Guide for partial-wrap projects, depending on the number and size of panels. This is not a fixed price for every roof, bonnet or mirror.

  • Choose a contrasting roof, bonnet or agreed accent area.
  • Check whether textured plastic is suitable for the intended film.
  • Price removal of existing vinyl separately where needed.

Know the complete fitted total

These ranges are planning estimates, not fixed packages. The quote should name the film and finish, covered panels, fitting labour, preparation, removal, trim work and exclusions. Ask for the total including VAT; approval, inspection and registration charges are separate unless expressly included.

Request my fitted price
Compare like for like

Why two wrap quotes can look very different

The lowest headline price is only useful when both quotations cover the same car, material and finish. Use these six checks to understand what you are paying for before deciding.

Vehicle shape

A large, relatively flat panel and a smaller, deeply sculpted bumper are different fitting tasks. Tell us about body kits, spoilers and aftermarket parts. Photos from the front, rear and both sides help identify the work before a workshop inspection.

Film identity

Compare the manufacturer and exact product series, rather than a description such as premium German or American film. Record the colour code and finish too. Two films that look similar on a phone can have different application requirements and warranty terms.

Preparation allowance

Ask whether the price includes routine cleaning only or additional work on old adhesive, contamination and damaged surfaces. A wrapping price should not leave you assuming that dent repair or paint correction is included. Agree extra work and its cost before it starts.

Edges and hidden areas

Clarify the difference between the visible exterior, wrapped edge returns and complete door shuts. Ask where the original colour will remain visible. A detailed coverage list makes a realistic comparison possible without expecting a basic exterior price to cover extensive dismantling.

Removal and refitting

Existing graphics, badges, handles and trim can change the labour needed. Ask which parts will be removed, how they will be refitted and whether replacement clips or badges are included. Those details are especially useful on older cars with fragile trim.

The total you approve

Request one written total showing the agreed work, any optional items and VAT treatment. Confirm material-order conditions, payment stages and cancellation terms directly before committing. Permission and registration costs should be identified separately from workshop fitting unless expressly included.

See the finish in person

Choose colour, then material

A colour name or phone photograph does not tell the whole story. Gloss, satin and matte surfaces reflect light differently. View a physical sample in daylight and workshop lighting.

Ask for the actual manufacturer, series, colour code and finish on your quote. Film availability must be checked for your chosen colour; a brand used for window tint does not establish the brand of vinyl supplied for your car.

For reference, 3M Wrap Film Series 2080 is a named colour-change wrap range. Its specifications are an example of what to request, not a statement that every colour is stocked or that this workshop is an authorised 3M installer.

01

Gloss

A reflective, paint-like appearance. Check surface texture and reflections on a real sample.

02

Satin

A softer sheen that shows body contours without the same sharp reflections as gloss.

03

Matte

A low-sheen appearance with finish-specific care. Polishing can change the look.

04

Special finishes

Metallic, textured and colour-shift options need a sample, availability check and separate quote. A carbon-effect vinyl is not structural carbon fibre.

Make the coverage clear

Walk around the car before choosing panels

Questions to settle for each part of the vehicle
AreaWhat to agreeWhat to look at
Bonnet and roofConfirm painted sections, glass roofs and any aerial or roof-rail work. A panoramic glass roof is not simply another vinyl body panel.View the finish across a broad surface. Ask how the chosen film’s care and warranty apply to these upward-facing areas.
Bumpers and mirrorsDiscuss recesses, vents, joints and any planned seams. Not every complex shape can be treated as a single flat sheet.Inspect close-up examples around curves. Ask whether textured or unpainted sections are excluded from the proposed application.
Doors and handlesIdentify handle treatment, lower painted sections and the intended edge finish. Confirm any trim access before fitting.Open a door during the discussion. This makes the difference between exterior coverage and hidden inner surfaces immediately clear.
Badges and accessoriesList emblems, aftermarket spoilers, cameras and other fittings that might affect access. Agree any removal and replacement in writing.Ask for a plan that preserves the operation of fitted equipment. A cosmetic change should not leave important components obstructed.

The finish starts underneath

Check the paint before covering it

A wrap follows the surface beneath it. It will not repair dents, rust, peeling clear coat or deep scratches, and those defects can remain visible through the film.

  • Original, sound paint: inspect adhesion, contamination and existing coatings before fitting.
  • Repainted panels: disclose when and where repairs were made. Paint-system curing and adhesion affect suitability.
  • Chips or failing paint: agree any repair work first. Covering an unstable finish can increase removal risk.

Send close photographs of affected panels with your enquiry. A physical inspection is needed where photographs cannot establish paint condition. Ask for any extra preparation to be priced before work begins.

Send paint-condition photos
Before the car comes in

A short preparation checklist saves surprises

Tell us what has been done to the paint

A clean-looking car can still have repaired paint, a ceramic coating or adhesive beneath an old graphic. Share what you know, even if the work was completed by a previous owner.

Do not commission a fresh polish or coating immediately before wrapping without discussing it first. The installer needs a surface preparation plan compatible with the selected film.

  1. Photograph existing marks. Record scratches, chips, dents and loose trim with the workshop. Keep an agreed condition record so both sides know which marks existed before the work.
  2. Disclose recent paint repairs. Provide the repair date and paint-system information if available. The correct waiting period follows the paint and film instructions; there is no reliable universal number for every repair.
  3. Identify coatings and old film. Mention wax, sealant, ceramic coating, previous vinyl and PPF. The workshop should assess what needs removing rather than assume the new adhesive will bond to everything.
  4. Agree access and collection. Remove personal belongings and arrange the handover time. Confirm who can approve additional preparation and how you will be contacted if inspection changes the estimate.

Technical reference: Avery Dennison’s Supreme Wrapping Film application bulletin addresses surface preparation, paint compatibility and application conditions. It is an example of product-specific guidance, not confirmation of stock.

Before changing the registered colour

Plan the approval steps first

A removable wrap is still a colour change when it changes the vehicle’s recorded appearance. Check the applicable process before fitting.

RTA’s vehicle-inspection guidance directs owners of licensed vehicles to obtain the colour-change permit through Dubai Police. Its ownership-amendment guidance also states that colour changes require vehicle inspection before applying for the amendment.

01 · Before fitting

Confirm the proposed colour and applicable Dubai Police permission for your vehicle.

02 · After the change

Follow the required inspection and vehicle-record amendment process with RTA.

03 · Special applications

Check partial, multi-colour, reflective or advertising designs with the authority. Do not assume an exemption because only some panels are covered.

Check current documents, fees and conditions directly with the authority for your registration and vehicle type. Vehicle advertising is a separate permission enquiry; a workshop quotation is not government approval.

From sample to handover

Agree the details before fitting

Allow for preparation, panel access, finishing and checks. The workshop should give you a collection plan after reviewing the car and selected film.

1

Choose and record

Select a physical sample, list the panels and record paint condition, visible original-colour areas, seams and exclusions.

2

Prepare and apply

Clean the surfaces, address agreed preparation and protect surrounding areas. Film handling and finishing must follow the supplied product’s instructions.

3

Inspect and hand over

Review edges, recesses, joins and refitted trim together. Receive the product details, invoice, care guidance and contact for any concern.

Ask to see a comparable completed wrap

When enquiring, request recent work in the finish you are considering, including close views of edges and recesses. Ask which film was used and what was covered. A full-car photograph alone cannot show the quality of those details.

Take a closer look

Checks before you collect your wrapped car

Look beyond the full-car photograph

Start with the overall colour in useful light, then move closer to the difficult areas. You are checking the agreed result and raising questions while the installer can explain the work.

Keep your invoice and material details together. They help identify the film later if you need a repair, a warranty enquiry or removal.

Colour and finish

Walk around both sides and compare adjacent panels. Confirm the selected finish and ask about any visible difference, mark or texture that concerns you. A photograph taken under workshop lights is not a substitute for seeing the completed car.

Edges, recesses and joins

Review bumper corners, mirror housings, handle recesses and the agreed seams. Ask about anything lifting, creased or unfinished. Where a join was planned, check that its position matches the discussion rather than assuming every visible join is a fault.

Refitted parts

Check doors, handles, mirrors and any trim removed for access. Ask the workshop to explain any replaced clips or badges. Confirm the vehicle’s normal controls and fitted equipment work before leaving, and report an unexpected warning promptly.

Your aftercare instructions

Get the first-wash date, approved cleaning approach and contact for concerns in writing. Ask whether a follow-up check is recommended for the actual installation. Do not assume a follow-up appointment is included unless the workshop confirms it.

Protect the finish you chose

Care, warranty and eventual removal

Three different decisions. Keep the finish clean, understand your cover and plan removal around the condition of the film and paint.

01 / Keep it looking right

Good care starts at handover

Get the cleaning instructions for your actual film before the first wash. A gloss finish and a matte finish may need different products.

  • Follow the supplied first-wash waiting period.
  • Remove contaminants promptly using approved methods.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaning and unsuitable polishing.
  • Park under cover where practical.
Product-specific example

3M’s 2080 care guide recommends hand washing and at least 72 hours before the first wash. Follow the instructions for the film actually fitted.

02 / Know your cover

Get the warranty in writing

Expected service life is not the same as warranty duration. Confirm the issuer, region, film, covered defects and exclusions for your installation.

Material coverWhich film defects are included?
WorkmanshipWho covers fitting, labour and removal?

Sun exposure, horizontal panels and maintenance can affect terms. An overseas headline warranty is not automatically the term for a Dubai installation.

03 / Think ahead

Assess the paint before removal

Film age, adhesive and exposure affect removal time. Brittle or deteriorated vinyl can take more work than a newer, sound installation.

Original paint and repaired paint carry different risks. Have the underlying finish assessed before removal or rewrapping; an unconditional “damage-free” promise is not a substitute for that check.

A clear next step

What to do if the wrap needs attention

Start with the issue you can see. Share the details before trying a repair, so the workshop can advise on the next inspection step.

01

An edge begins to lift

Photograph it before touching it

Send a close view and a wider photo showing the panel, together with the fitting date. The cause needs assessment before deciding whether it relates to material, installation or damage.

Do not pull, trim or reheat the film yourself.

02

A panel gets scratched

Ask about a panel replacement

Check whether the same colour code remains available and how a new section may look beside weathered film. Agree the expected appearance and cost before approving a local repair or a larger replacement.

Keep the exact film details available.

03

You want a coating over vinyl

Check the combined system first

Confirm compatibility with your film and finish before adding a coating, polish or sealant. Ask who supports the combined system and whether the product changes any warranty conditions.

Paint-care products are not automatically wrap-safe.

04

You are selling or returning the car

Allow time for assessment

Plan any inspection and removal before the sale or lease-return date. Check the owner or leasing agreement and keep pre-wrap condition photographs. A covering does not prove paint condition or guarantee resale value.

Agree removal and any follow-up work in advance.

For daily Dubai use

Tell the workshop whether the car lives outdoors or has covered parking. This helps frame maintenance and replacement discussions. Another owner’s lifespan estimate is not a promise for your vehicle.

Choose by your main goal

Wrap, PPF or window tint?

Colour-change vinyl primarily changes the appearance of body panels. It adds a covering, but it should not be sold as equivalent to dedicated impact-focused paint protection film.

Choose the right work

When wrapping is worth discussing and when to pause

A suitable conversation

You want a different look on sound paint

A colour-change enquiry makes sense when your main goal is appearance and you can choose the finish, coverage and future care together. Start with a physical sample and a realistic budget for the complete job.

  • For a whole-car change, discuss the visible exterior and any original colour inside openings.
  • For an accent, identify the exact roof, bonnet or other painted area instead of requesting an undefined partial wrap.
  • For a distinctive finish, confirm material availability before arranging dates around a particular colour.
Resolve this first

You need paint repair or a different protection goal

Pause if the main problem is failing paint, rust or collision damage. Ask a body-repair professional what needs correcting before considering a cosmetic covering. Vinyl should not be used to avoid discussing a damaged substrate.

  • For stone-chip protection, compare a named PPF product and coverage rather than relying on a vinyl colour description.
  • For cabin glare and sunlight, assess window film; body wrap is applied to a different surface for a different purpose.
  • For a permanent colour change, compare the full preparation and finish requirements of repainting with the ongoing ownership needs of wrap.
Before you enquire

Car wrapping questions

A clear brief helps us discuss the right finish and a realistic fitted price.

How long will the wrap take?

Timing depends on vehicle size, paint preparation, film choice and trim access. A full exterior job normally needs a multi-day workshop plan rather than a quick tint-style appointment. Get the actual drop-off and collection dates in your quotation; material sourcing and authority processing are separate.

Can you wrap only my roof or bonnet?

Selected painted panels can be assessed for a partial wrap. Send photos and identify the exact areas. The cost depends on their size, shape, preparation and chosen film; a published partial-project range is not a fixed single-panel price.

Will a wrap hide scratches or peeling paint?

Film follows the underlying surface. Deep scratches, dents and failing paint need assessment or repair before wrapping; vinyl is not a substitute for body repair.

Will the original colour show inside the doors?

It can. A full exterior quote does not automatically include door shuts, inner edges or other concealed surfaces. Agree those areas and any additional dismantling before fitting.

Is vinyl wrap the same as coloured PPF?

No. Both can change appearance, but the material, thickness, intended protection and care can differ. Ask which exact product is being quoted and compare it with the purpose you want it to serve.

Can the wrap be removed later?

Many automotive wrap films are designed for removal under specified conditions. Age, exposure, adhesive and paint adhesion affect the work and its risks. Arrange an assessment rather than assuming every painted surface will remain unaffected.

Where the technical advice comes from

Film manufacturers

The linked 3M maintenance guidance and Avery Dennison application bulletin explain why care and preparation need to follow the selected product. Their examples do not establish which brand is currently available at this workshop.

Dubai authorities

The linked RTA services explain the permit and vehicle-record steps relevant to colour changes. Check the applicable owner category and registration before applying. Corporate and private vehicle requirements should not be treated as interchangeable.
